BRI believes in you! We believe that everyone needs a little support sometimes, and we are here to help you feel supported in your home. BRI has caring staff that want you to be successful managing your home and the community around you.

BRI tailors assistance to your needs, here are a few examples of what we can do:

Vocational Rehabilitation Programs

The Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, DVR, provides funding to BRI to assist individuals with disabilities to obtain and maintain employment. They assist with Supported Employment by authorizing Assessments, Job Development & Placement, Job Coaching and On-going Support for individuals needing additional training and monitoring. DVR also provides Direct Placement Services for individuals who need assistance with Resume Building and Job Development. Transition Services from school to work are available for students with disabilities moving form high school to a job.

The DVR Counselor assists individuals to create an Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE). The IPE outlines what the individual will be responsible for and what role other individuals or organizations will do to assist the individual obtain employment.

An individual needs to apply for DVR services. This can be accomplished by calling 1-877-387-3879 and requesting an application.

Day Services

Our Day Services program provides meaningful experiences to enhance your quality of life. Through activities that take place both at BRI and in the community, you will have the opportunity to achieve your own happiness. Each day is planned with your input and you get to make the choice of how you want to make the day meaningful.

Examples of daily experiences:

· Classes in photography, cooking, yoga, etc.

· Social activities to museums, zoos, and parks

· Therapy dog and animal interaction

· Knitting and crafting groups (Donations are made to local businesses)

· Volunteering in the community like Fill a backpack for students

· Community preparation experiences; community safety lessons, independent skill-building

Transportation

We have been getting people where they need to be since 1973! BRI has invested in options for your best experience. We have over 10 minivans and cars for one on one transportation. We also have 11 buses that are wheelchair and walker accessible. We are dedicated to helping you access your community!

Supported Apartment / Daily Living Skills Training Program Statement

The Black River Industries, Inc. (BRI) Supported Apartment Program provides support to individuals with disabilities (participants)  who reside in an unsupervised living environment such as their own apartments or family homes. The program's purpose is to assist participants to achieve and/or maintain independence in the community.
